CAMBOFEST: Film and Video Festival of Cambodia is an independent, private sector movie festival in Cambodia--and is, as such, absolutely the first and one of a kind in Cambodia.

The festival was inspired by a globalization studies course at Royal University of Phnom Penh (pictured).

The festival is operated in association with key Khmer production partners; others, both Khmer and "Barang", are invited onboard as needed, as per the demands of the festival and its operations.

CamboFest is also a notorious stickler for securing performance permissions to the movies we screen!

We take intellectual property rights seriously, and our hope is that the public performance standards already observed by regional neighbors will be encouraged in Cambodia...with ultimate benefit to the Cambodian media sector and Cambodian movie industry.

The ability of an independent media event such as CamboFest to conduct itself responsibly and decently, without strict oversight, control, or overt censorship, is a litmus test for many functional aspects of a functioning civil society.
